Between Your Heart And Mine
by Linda Marie Van Tassell

I am sitting and waiting with so much to say,
a million love-thoughts blooming inside;
and though I'm your lady, pretty and fair,
walking the paths of hope and pride,
I wander alone and wait for you endlessly
with the wind drifting at my side.

Your love puts clouds beneath my feet,
and I am lifted high in the air.
The world and its shadows fall away
as you hold me in gentle care.
My heart has run to you without delay.
How I wish that I were there!

Between our hearts is a love so rare.
We are lovers; warm and true.
You have turned me into shades of gold;
and no rich man can greater woo
nor have finer charms to sell
than the love between me and you.

Do not fear that though you're there
that our love shall fade or pale;
for you are the only love of my life,
the one to make my spirit quail.
Although I might feel sad sometimes,
it is nothing your love cannot avail.

How I long to kiss your fervent brow,
for this every night I pray;
and though prayers dissolve into the air,
my wanting never goes away.
You are my angel, my piece of heaven;
and I live in your love every day.
